It’s hard to believe, but we are quickly approaching the two-year mark since all of our lives were turned upside down due to the pandemic. There have been MANY highs and lows, but through it all, we are SO proud of how our community, our dance families, and our team here at District Dance handled the challenges thrown our way. Our teachers and staff are dedicated to fostering a positive environment in the studio and are leading by example for our students during these uncertain times.
The past two years have given us many opportunities to reflect and act on our mission and values. With SO many decisions to be made, our mission and values became key to deciding the best course of action for our studio and for all the families depending on us.
As a reminder, our mission here at District Dance is to empower and support the next generation of courageous leaders. The core values that guide our studio are connection, commitment, character, and celebration.
Something we learned very early in the pandemic, was that our students were depending on ALL the adults in their life to provide an example of leadership. While we couldn’t make the pandemic go away, we COULD step into our role as a positive role model. What better way to work towards our mission than that?
For our team here at District Dance, that means doing what we had to do to try and keep our dancers healthy and in motion while respecting that every family’s situation is unique. Have we made mistakes? Of course! But at any given moment, we were trying to do the best we could with the information we had.
While we’d REALLY like to put this all behind us, we’re not there yet. We understand that some families are ready to ditch masks forever, but we know there are also families with health concerns that need to be cautious. We are so proud of our students for handling all the changes with ease. Our dancers have grown accustomed to masks in the studio and we want to applaud them for their positivity.
Two years in, our goal is STILL to keep our dancers healthy and in motion. We will continue to pivot and course-correct as needed, but we’d like to ask our dance families to extend some grace as we make decisions for our studio that best support ALL of our students and dance families.
Families are all doing the best they can, and our team here at District Dance is no exception. Our kids are watching and learning from us all. We’re going to use this opportunity to show our students that character matters and treating each other with respect is always a good decision.
We can’t tell you how much your support has meant over the past two years. Our District Dance community continues to be a source of inspiration and a very welcome creative outlet. We need to dance just as much as our students do!
Thank you for your continued support and trust as we head into the next phase of this pandemic. We’ll continue to keep our families updated as we move forward.
