Although we usually follow the MoCoPS inclement weather policy, on occasion we will open the studio when the schools are closed. Often times, schools are closed because of extremely cold temperatures and concerns about children waiting for buses or weather events affecting the morning commute. However, the roads and weather can be completely safe in the afternoon hours.
In the event we decide that it is unsafe for our families or teachers to attend class, we will notify you directly as soon as a decision is made. We will always email you as well as text if you are signed up for the service below.
To receive messages via text, text @ddcdance to 81010. You can optout of messages at anytime by replying, ‘unsubscribe @ddcdance’.
Or to receive messages via email, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. To unsubscribe, reply with ‘unsubscribe’ in the subject line.
You can always find up to date information about closures on our Instagram and Facebook page! We will post a notice of any closures as soon as the decision is made.
If your child’s dance class is canceled they are welcome to make-up the class in a similar age and level class. If you have a young dancer (7 years and under) they are welcome to try any class style we offer within their age group. Older dancers should only make-up a class in a style they are currently taking within their age group and level.
If District Dance closes more than one time on the same day of the week within a session (ex. we close two Mondays in a row due to snow), we will do our best to schedule a make-up class for the students. If they are not able to attend the make-up class, they are still welcome to make-up the class in a similar age/level or style within that enrollment session.
We do not follow the MoCoPS holiday closing schedule. You can always check our calendar for studio closings, but below is a list of holidays the studio always observes.
New Year’s Day – January 1
MoCo Spring Break
Memorial Day Weekend
Independence Day – July 4th
Thanksgiving Day and Weekend
Christmas Eve, Christmas and Winter Break – December 24 – 31
Other Unplanned Closings or Teacher Absence
We know consistency is key. We do our best to make sure if a teacher is sick or injured, we have a substitute ready for class. However, sometimes life happens and we are not able to find a substitute. In this case, the class will either be made up on another day and time or you can choose to come to another class on our regular schedule that works best for your family.
