Amy Amatucci
Amy Amatucci graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance. Amy began studying dance at a young age in Dale City, VA. When her family moved to Pittsburgh, she continued to dance with The Dancin’ Place and Star-Styled Dance Center. She was honored her senior of high school with the opportunity to shadow the owner of The Dancin’ Place in classes, events and shows. Amy spent her college breaks teaching workshops for the dance company and appreciated how much she learned at such a young age.
Amy’s first 2 years in college were spent at California University of PA. While attending Cal U, Amy was not only a member of the Vulcanette’s Dance Team, but was also the founder and chief choreographer for the team. The Vulcanette’s Dance Team is still running today thanks to the foundation that Amy laid due to her dedication and hard work. Although dance was her passion, Amy found time to perform and work the stage crew for multiple theater performances including Michael Slavin’s, The Ice Wolfe.
Amy chose to leave Cal U and attended the University of Maryland to complete her degree. She took on multiple choreography projects, participated in the New Dances (a showing of work from graduating seniors in the dance and theatre department at UMD) and was chosen to perform in Maurice Fraga’s piece with the prestigious Maryland Dance Ensemble. Amy has taught ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern and cheer to kids throughout Maryland. She is currently coaching competitive youth cheer-leading and teaching hip-hop at Imagination Stage.
Amy is looking forward to sharing her passion for dance with students of all ages during her first year at District Dance Co. and is excited to be a part of this fast growing studio.
